Kiosk Shop Customer Portal

How it started:

The Que reached out to us with a request: We have a space in our retail store where we rent out cubicle for people who have now computers at home. They provide their customers with hourly rental access to the internet in a comfortable indoor office space.

But they wanted customers should be able to purchase kiosk time and print credits on their own.

Hence there are ready software that provide this technology, most of them have a poor user experience!

The typical customer of The Que is not tech-savvy and don't use software on a regular basis.

They wanted to build their very own Kiosk Reservation and Purchase software that will be Web-Based.

The challenges:

  1. The shop personnel was manually purchasing time for the customers
  2. Customer where not aware of their balances
  3. Kiosk time and prints credits where reserved on separate systems
  4. Customers did not want to use an existing solution, stating: it's too complicated.
The Challenges

Project's Goals:

The goals for this project were very clear:

  • Design a very simplistic experience to purchase time and prints
  • Customers should be able to purchase unique time and print packages
  • The customer should be able to manage their credit cards
  • The in-app confirmation massages should be super clear for the user feedback
The Goals

The UX Process:

Learning About the Users- Together with Retail Staff at The Que, we studied the key pains of their customers:

  1. Some are daily visitors while others pop-in one in a blue moon
  2. Most users are not tech-savvy
  3. When they don't understand how to use a software - the'll never revisit it!

We need to come up with a unique design that will service this unique type of people!

The Solution:

After compiling all the research and market data, our team set out to create a new solution.

With the new design of The Que Portal, customers can now:

  • Login and create accounts
  • View their time and prints balances at all times
  • View unique packages combinations
  • Completely self checkout
  • Update their credit cards on file

The Polish:

After ironing out the last tweaks of the UX with the team, we set out to design the entire portal with a clean UI.
