Spotify and Apple Music are the giant names when it comes to music streaming services. Both take pride in offering unique features that cater to their diverse user base.
Although both applications have made major updates over the years, there are still a few things that could be improved.
Below are a couple of UX stories that users experienced while using these apps.
👨🦱 Mark saved a Spotify playlist so he could listen to some music 🎵 while he was working.
The playlist he discovered contained some really cool random songs, 🎼
which certainly lifted his mood 😃 as he began working in his office. 👨💻
There was this song in the playlist that was so good 👌
that he wondered 👀 if the artist had any other good songs he could listen to.
However, Spotify lacked a shortcut feature 😓
that would allow him to check the other songs by a specific artist 🎶
that he was currently listening to.👂
With a simple tweak to its UX, users like Mark could easily scroll down, 👇
find recommendations, and click more songs from a specific artist
who's currently playing on the app.
🧔Andy enjoys listening to music 🎵 on his Apple Music app. 📱
He was listening 👂 to a suggested playlist on the app one day,
when he heard a song he really liked. 😎
The song was then added to his saved playlist. 📌
Later that day, he played his saved playlist,
which included hundreds of his favorite songs. 🎵
He wanted to play a new song 🎵 that he had recently added.
To do so, he had to scroll all the way down 👇because the newly added songs are at the bottom. 🤦♂️
I know scrolling down isn't a big deal,
but there are some things that could be done to improve the user experience.👌
This was the case prior to the new Apple Music update.
The good news is that people can now sort playlists by Title, Artist, Album, and more. 🤗🤗
This is what we try to do here Intent UX- make things better and user-friendly! 💪
A good and responsive UX design is critical for applications such as Spotify and Apple Music because it ensures user satisfaction and customer retention.
A bad UX is equivalent to a bad business in the tech industry. And this should be the most important consideration for developers and designers.
